This question is asked to determine if you are eligible to receive Disaster Unemployment Assistance benefits if and when they become available. You will be asked a series of questions about your most recent employment, last employer and some eligibility questions, such as the first question which asks you if you are unemployed due to a disaster. If you answer “no” you can proceed to the remaining questions. There is specific information on the form unique to your employer that the EDD will need to collect. The first question that will display is, “Did your employer or union issue you one of the following unemployment insurance claim forms?” If you answer “yes” to this question you will need to contact the EDD directly to reopen your claim. ![]() In this example, we are currently on the Employer or Union Issued Claim forms page. This lets you know where you are in the reopen your claim process. At the top of this page you’ll notice a progress bar. Once finished reviewing or updating your contact information, you’ll be navigated to the Employer or Union Issued Claim Forms page. If needed, you can update any of your contact information here on this page before moving forward. This is where you can verify your current contact information, such as your mailing address and telephone number. When beginning the process of reopening your claim, you will first be navigated to the Contact Information page. Now let’s get started! Select the “Reopen Your Claim” button to begin the claim filing process. If you need to reopen your claim, this notification will appear. If you still have a current claim on file and stopped claiming benefits for 24 days, the system will also advise you if you need to reopen your claim. If the notifications indicate that your claim is expired and a new claim is required, select the “Start filing a new claim now” link. ![]() Once you login and arrive to the UI Online Home page, check the notifications section to see if you need to file a new claim or reopen your claim. In order to reopen your claim using UI Online, you first need to register in Benefit Programs Online and create a UI Online account.
